Soulsville Foundation,
Take Me to the River, the
STAX Music Academy, and the
STAX Museum of American Soul Music to welcome you to Memphis in style!
The event begins at 6:00PM with a
reception featuring drinks and community-building. At 7:00PM, we'll move to the theatre for
a private screening of Take Me to the River, an award-winning documentary that "is a captivating journey into the soul of American music, embodying the grit and rhythm of the legendary Memphis sound." The film's director, as well as some of the participants, will be on hand to engage in conversation about the legacy of Memphis music. And finally, at 8:00PM, we'll be treated to the sounds of the
STAX Music Academy Alumni Band, a group comprised of professional musicians who honed their craft at STAX.
The event will take place at the STAX Museum of American Soul Music. Shuttle service will be provided between the venue and the Holiday Inn at the University of Memphis. The event is free and open to all conference attendees.
